Geograph anti-aliasing (or lack thereof). Example is TM0825 : Great Bromley Village Hall. In this case we are looking at the overhead cables becoming dashed lines as well as moiré patterns on the gable end brickwork.
How it should look - reduced to 640 x 480 px by Wikipedia.
Very similar results can be obtained by
using Paint Shop Pro's resample function.
Not quite as good. Reduced using FinePix Viewer - free with Fuji cameras - and it preserves the EXIF metadata.
